New Republic has confirmed that he is a horse with a bright future, exploding down the centre of the track to win at Newcastle on Thursday afternoon.
It mattered little though, as Mikayla Weir set the gelding alight before the turn, rounding up their rivals turning for home before charging down the centre of the track for a remarkable win.
Thursday’s win was New Republic’s third from only six career starts to date and he takes his earnings to just over $66,000.
The team at Minervini Racing turned New Republic out in superb order, and Mark and Michelle are very excited as to what the future holds for the gelding with some enticing spring options now on the horizon.
New Republic was a purchase from the Segenhoe Stud Group draft at the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and is a grandson of our former star race mare Vormista. His dam is the Redoute’s Choice mare Apprise who was a winner from only two starts on the track and has produced the Sydney city winner Shaik from only three progeny to make it to the track.
Congratulations to the owners, Peter Cawthorne, Michael Green, Wayne Grob, Ben Gunn, Ennio Tarca, Rachel Isaac, Sean McCartan, Richard McKinnon, Don Meers, Kain & Corey Ottey, Craig Reid, Jacob Selfe, Michael Worth, Darryl Wright and the Shunt And Punt Syndicate (Mgr: Ben Cribb).
