Barbados filly Martinique returned from a break in great style at Balaklava on Wednesday afternoon, sitting outside the leader, before racing clear late for a comfortable fresh win.
The three-year-old grey trialled spectacularly six days prior on Morphettville’s Parks track, leading and running away to win by over nine lengths.
That was enough for punters to send her out at a very short quote for Wednesday’s resumption and she didn’t let favourite backers down.
Martinique was purchased by Mark from the 2017 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sales and in nine starts since, she has won twice, and run four placings, for total stakes of $37,950.
The win was the first in the Minervini Racing colours for stable apprentice Anna Jordsjo, and the team are sure that it will be the first of many more.
Congratulations to her owners Mark & Michelle Minervini, Mary Allstrom & Shirley Fisher, Sue Blaschek, Ian Brown, Cheryl Dally, Kate Dansie, Adam Dente, Golden Sippers Syndicate (Mgr: Cain Dinunzio), Cheryl Dirksen, Dennis Gardiner, Tony Grantham, David Hamzy, Elizabeth Hewitt – Cook, Kirsty Marnane, Jennifer Mullins, Michael Newlands, Sally Niehuus, Alan Rowe & Jackie Smith, Nicole Stone, Peter & Valmai Toole, Ross Webb and the Martinique Syndicate.
