Essoess has ploughed through the heavy conditions at Saturday’s Taree meeting to record his second win.
The grey son of former star stallion Choisir returned from a short break with a solid placing at Port Macquarie two weeks prior, and the team were confident of a forward showing, despite having to carry a hefty top weight of 61kg.
Steered superbly by Serg Lisnyy, who saved ground by going inside runners on the home turn, Essoess lunged late, and held off Atlantic Lite, with a good margin to the third-placed runner.
Essoess is out of our former smart sprinting mare in Splash of Moet, which makes another victory all the more special.
The win is the gelding’s second from 12 starts, and he takes his stakes to a tick over $30,000.
Congratulations to the owners, David Schiavello, Mark Schiavello, Phil Breden, Andrew Coulston, Paul Graham, Chris Lester, Ash Miller, Tim Nation, Dominic Smith, Glenn Smith, David Willis, Lovely ‘Orse Racing Syndicate (Mgr: Liam Adderly)
