King’s Duty has made it two wins from three starts with a dominant display at Port Macquarie.
The son of the former Group 1 Golden Rose winner and now Oaklands Stud (QLD) stallion Exosphere was a winner on debut at Newcastle in late January before finishing just out of the placings at the same venue a fortnight later.
The team at Minervini Racing were of the opinion that a change of tactics was on the cards, and a float trip away from his home base would be of great benefit to the gelding and set him in good stead for the future.
New rider Ashley Morgan allowed King’s Duty to balance up worse than midfield, shouldering his way out of a pocket at the top of the home straight before rounding their rivals up to score an easy win.
The win was King’s Duty’s second from three starts, with stakes of just under $40,000.
King’s Duty was a purchase by Mark Minervini from the 2021 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale and is the first foal and winner from the two-time metropolitan winning Swiss Ace mare, Shemai (NZ).
Congratulations to his owners, Monty & Gavin Beecroft, Rodney Blanch, Scott Burns, Ethan Green, Michael Green, Gerry Harvey, Shane Higgins, Desmond Hogan, Todd Johns, Ben Kemp, Jason Lee, David McManus, Chris Prentice, Paul Till, Darryl Wright and From The Track – King Syndicate (Mgr: Allen Hardes).
