Dubai Flyer has scored his first win at start number two, accounting for a small field at Wyong on Saturday afternoon.
The gelded son of the former Blue Diamond winner and now Coolmore stallion Pride of Dubai put the writing on the wall with an encouraging effort on debut at Muswellbrook a fortnight earlier, and the step up in trip was always going to be to advantage.
Apprentice Georgina McDonnell, who was having her first sit on Dubai Flyer allowed the gelding to balance up on the pace, before taking a late split and running through the line clear of her three rivals.
Dubai Flyer is the second foal of the Snitzel mare Qarah, and was a purchase by Mark Minervini at the 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
The win took the gelding’s stake earnings to just over $25,000.
Dubai Flyer’s victory was Minervini Racing’s 49th since relocating to New South Wales.
Congratulations to his owners, Gavin Beecroft, Robert Brown, Rob Burton, Joanne Butler, Bob & Kerrie Dailey, John & Kerri-Ann Dennis, Mick Eggins, David McManus, Anthony Mezzini, Mark & Michelle Minervini, Craig Reid, Jimmy & Sandy Roberts, John Sekulovski, Paul Till, Wungali Racing Syndicate (Mgr: Bob Dailey), From The Track – Pride Syndicate (Mgr: Allen Hardes).
