Ocean Joy has broken through on our home track on Saturday.
The daughter of the Vinery Stud stallion Headwater had shown she was a filly with a great deal of ability prior to Saturday’s assignment, and Mark and the team were confident that it would only be a matter of time before the filly ticked off her maiden win.
Drawn the inside gate over the flying 900m, jockey Lee Magorrian allowed the leaders to run along in front, enjoying a lovely trail on the fence, before angling away from heals, finding the front and then holding out a fast-finishing challenge from the race favourite.
Ocean Joy was a $15,000 purchase by Mark Minervini from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2023 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale and the maiden win takes her stake earnings to $35,000.
Congratulations to her owners Gavin Beecroft, Glenn Bishop, Ian Burford, Brent Cannon, Paul DeAraugo, Craig Dedman, Greg Foot, William Goldthorp, My Lam, Paul Till, Philip Tonks, Belsin Thoroughbreds (Mgr: Colin Bell), Dailey Racing (Mgr: Bob Dailey), MyBee Racing (Mgr: My Lam), Minervini Racing (Mgr: Michelle Minervini) & Gleneagles Stud (Mgr: Kevan Wacey).
