Bella Kathleen has kicked off her time at Minervini Racing a winner, leading all of the way at Newcastle.
The daughter of the former Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente (IRE) arrived in New South Wales with the one win from 11 career starts, and Mark and the team were hopeful that the new surroundings would turn the mare’s fortunes around, and their faith was duly awarded.
Sent straight to the front by the in-form Luke Rolls, Bella Kathleen showed a strong kick at the top of the home straight and was never headed in the run to the line.
Bella Kathleen was originally a purchase from the Cornerstone Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. She is the fifth foal to race from the former metropolitan winner and stakes-placed Silent Sophia.
The Newcastle win takes her stake earnings to over $46,000.
Congratulations to her owners S J Rushton, G M Carr & Mrs M Modra.
