Well-bred 3 year old gelding Madlool recorded his maiden victory in convincing style yesterday in a maiden plate at Murray Bridge over 1406 metres.

Jockey Damien Robinson was able to use the benefit of barrier 1 to allow Madlool to settle better than midfield on the rail under his own head of steam and then peel off the heels of the leaders in the final furlong to come away for an easy 2 length victory.  Madlool started at $4 on track and at the very generous price of $5.90 on Super TAB.  The win was Madlool’s first in only his 7th start and is unlikely to be his last.

Madlool was purchased by clients of trainer Mark Minervini at a thoroughbred dispersal sale in November last year for $22,000, and that already promises to be a sound purchase.  Madlool was formerly trained by David Hayes and ran in the famous blue and white colours of Shadwell Stud.  He now runs in the gold and black colours of Mark Minervini and the recent successes of those colours at the track would no doubt provide some solace for long suffering Richmond supporters.
