Quality racemare Andronica finally broke a frustrating run of outs when she scored a convincing win over 2200 metres at Balaklava today.
Given a superb ride by leading jockey Simon Price Andronica came from last in the small field of five to outsprint her rivals and win running away.
It was great to see her return to some where near her best form, the mare showed great promise as a late two year old and early three year old but after a few minor hiccups has found it hard to get her "Mojo" back!
Now that she has won the stable is confident she can go on with it and hopefully get back to winning in town soon, a victory over 11 furlongs is a rarity for Minervini trained horses as we just don't normally buy staying types.
"Her grand dam won the Oaks you know?" said June Fletcher the mares' breeder and part owner, to have a horse capable over a bit of ground opens up a lot of options and we shouldn't have any trouble in placing her over the coming weeks.
Andronica is definitely one to follow.
