Star Impact has scored a commanding all-the-way-win at only her second run for the Minervini Stable at Newcastle on Saturday.

The mare, by the former Arrowfield Stud stallion Mikki Isle (JPN) was a recent purchase by Mark Minervini from the 2022 December Inglis Online Digital Sale and with Saturday’s first prize, has already covered her purchase cost for her new owners.

Joining the stable in the new year, Star Impact settled into her new surrounds well, and despite finishing at the tail of the field at Wyong, at her first run for the stable, she was less than three lengths from the winner.

Out to 1400m for her second-up assignment, Star Impact was sent straight to the front by stable jockey Mikayla Weir, and the mare was never headed.

Saturday’s win was Star Impact’s third, and Saturday’s first prize purse of $21,000 takes her overall stake earnings to over $64,000.

The success continues a great run that Minervini Racing have had over the years with purchasing tried mares; none more so than the Testa Rossa mare Mica Lil, who was a restricted class galloper in Western Australia, before running third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville for our stable.

Congratulations to her owners Gavin Beecroft, Robert Brown, Rob Burton, John Sekulovski & Joanne Butler, Bob & Kerrie Daily, My Lam, David McManus, Mark & Michelle Minervini, Paul Rosenich, Paul Till, John Wilks, Wungali Racing Syndicate (Mgr: Bob Dailey) and the Grey Fox Syndicate (Mgr: Lindsay Hunt).
