Lightly raced Quest For Fame gelding Andamooka Gem continued Mark Minervini’s rich vein of form by taking out the Mitavite Rating 0-75 Handicap over 1600 metres at Strathalbyn this afternoon.

Having his first start at the mile, Andamooka Gem was patiently ridden by stable jockey Adrian Patterson and rounded his rivals at the home turn to career away for a comfortable victory.  The win was the 3 year old’s third from 6 runs this preparation and takes his prizemoney to a touch over $33,000.  With only 10 lifetime starts under his belt, Andamooka Gem looks to have a promising future ahead of him.

The win also continues the sterling run enjoyed by trainer Mark Minervini as Andamooka Gem was Minervini’s third win in the space of a week (including a stakes race) from only 6 runners.

Andamooka Gem is now likely to tackle a city-class Saturday race on the Morphettville Parks circuit over 1550 metres on May 15.
