Stable veteran Super has returned to the winner’s stall, and in turn scored his fifth win at our home track, Newcastle Racecourse.

The gelded son of the former star racehorse and now Arrowfield Stud super Sire Snitzel had been racing well in three lead-up runs this preparation and looked ready to fire at his fourth run in.

From the time the gates opened, apprentice Georgina McDonnell placed the gelding in a lovely trailing position, just beyond midfield and the pair only needed luck turning for home, before pushing their way into the clear and going on to record an impressive win.

Trainer Mark Minervini has thus far restricted Super to sprinting trips at his first four runs and the recipe has been a success, with the rising eight-year-old continuing to show a real zest for stable life.

Super’s win was the 50th winner in New South Wales that Minervini Racing has trained since our relocation.

Super was an unraced $22,500 purchase from the Inglis Online Digital Sale and now has stake earnings of over $235,000.

Congratulations to his owners Greg Carey & Libby Newbold, Paul Christian, Val Chilman, Bob & Kerrie Dailey, Wayne Foran, Danny Heffernan, Gary Johnson, Peter MacKenzie, Mark & Michelle Minervini, Jay Morris,  Mark Shilton, Jim Smith, Dean Sullivan, Mathew Wallington, Wungali Racing Syndicate (Mgr: Bob Dailey).
