Stable addition Pratt has scored a commanding win when having his first run for the stable at Newcastle on Monday.

The son of the former star sprinter and superstar stallion Exceed and Excel was sent straight to the front over the flying 900 metres by leading rider Aaron Bullock, and the pair never looked like they would be headed.

The recent wet weather meant that the meeting, which was originally set to be conducted on the Saturday prior was run on a heavy ten surface; the damp track proving no issue for the gelding, who appeared to be comfortable in the going throughout.

Pratt was a $270,000 yearling purchase from the Torryburn Stud draft at the 2023 Inglis Australian Yearling Sale. After three unsuccessful runs for Chris Waller, the gelding was purchased by Mark from the 2025 Inglis February (Early) Online Sale.

Pratt is the third winner, from as many to race for the Encosta de Lago mare Red Hearts.

Congratulations to his owners George & Natalee Alexandrou, Brett Farnsworth, Gary Fitton, Julie Anne Kollmorgan, Dave McLachlan, Milt O’Brien, Craig &  Ethan Pratt, Theo St James, Vicki Tomasums, Colin Tormey, Silver Donut Racing (Mgr: Craig Kirkwood), Minervini Racing (Mgr: Michelle Minervini).
