Jive Lady broke her maiden status yesterday at Morphettville Parks in winning the SA Thoroughbred Breeders / Sabois Maiden Plate (1250m) narrowly but impressively.

Punters installed Jive Lady the $3.80 favourite in the 11 horse field and after being well back at the turn, Jive Lady finished very strongly for jockey Dom Tourneur to claim Go Conaki ($4) in the shadows of the post.  Jive Lady had last raced some 6 weeks earlier over 1800 metres, so her effort to win over the much shorter journey after a freshen up is testament to the skill of trainer Mark Minervini.

Jive Lady is a half-sister to Mark Minervini’s Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter Vormista, and looks destined to win better races.

Jive Lady’s win could be the start of a big week for Mark Minervini as he saddles up Manhattan Sky in the $30,000 Millicent Cup at Mt Gambier on Saturday and leading jockey Steven King takes the ride on Hanabananah in the $100,000 Proud Miss Stakes on "Super Sunday" at Allan Scott Park Morphettville.
