Mica Lil (4m Testa Rossa – Gemstone) has scored a top win at her first run for the Minervini stable at Morphettville today.
A recent acquisition from WA, Mica Lil has never won at 1200m prior, with her last two wins coming at 1600m in lower grade at Kalgoorlie.
Identified by Mark as a lightly-raced mare that had her best days ahead of her, she came to the stable earlier this year and immediately impressed with her demeanour and abilities on the training track.
Well-handled today by top Victorian rider Dean Yendall, Mica Lil jumped cleanly and found a position mid-field, travelling well in the run, before cruising up behind the leaders just before they straightened. Yendall angled Mica Lil out from behind the leaders at the 300m and she burst clear to record a dominant win.
The stable were very pleased with the manner in which she handled herself pre-race, and we are incredibly excited as to what her future holds with our team.
