Four-year-old mare Paparazzi (Dehere (USA) – Stars Turn Out (NZ)) has turned in a dashing display, first-up from a break in the Magic FM/5CS Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate at Clare today.
Passed in for $75,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, the Dehere mare has always showed the team at Trackside Racing a great deal of promise.
Coming off the back of a slick trial win at Morphettville, two weeks prior, Paparazzi was sent out as a short-priced favourite, and the mare never gave anyone who stepped into the short quote a cause for concern.
Showing plenty of early dash, stable jockey Shayne Cahill had to contend with a challenger or two for the lead position, which he clearly wanted – and eventually got.
With every stride from that point forward, and travelling with a full head of steam, the challengers slowly dropped off, and when Cahill said “go” approaching the corner, Paparazzi kicked away, and established a race-winning lead.
A final margin of close to four lengths, with ears pricked, suggests that there was plenty left in the tank, and plenty more to come for this talented mare.
After a frustrating run of placings for the Trackside Racing team over the past few months, it was only a matter of time before the winners followed, and there’s no doubt that will continue over the summer.
Paparazzi is definitely a horse to follow, and after today’s easy win, expect her to acquit herself well for future assignments.
Congratulations to owners Paul & Corry Crawford.
