Toronado (IRE) filly Donnacan recorded an emotional victory for Minervini Racing at Taree on Monday.
Owned by Brent Cannon and his family, Donnacan is named in honour of his late sister Donna.
Given a wonderful ride by Mikayla Weir, the filly parked a length off the leader, travelling on a hot speed before breaking clear inside the last 200 metres to score an easy win.
“Brent and his family will get a real thrill out of this win today and we couldn’t be happier, I’m sure there are more wins in store” – Mark Minervini
Donnacan will now have approx. ten days of rest and relaxation at our beach pre-training facility in Anna Bay (NSW) with the possibility of another start before the end of January.
Donnacan is the fourth foal to race (all winners) from the Made of Gold mare Epona Gold, who only graced the track on two occasions, winning on debut at Kilmore. Donnacan is a half-sister to Liverpool Jane (Captain Gerrard), Timor Gold (Barely a Moment) and Feargal (Sharkbite) with an unnamed younger half sibling by Strasbourg yet to be named.
Congratulations to her owners Brent & Susan Cannon, Victoria, Andy and Tom Cannon, Julie Cannon, Allan Marsh, Mark & Michelle Minervini
